LifeProof athlete Margaux Alvarez doesn’t know the word quit. She is a two-time CrossFit Games athlete who is well on her way to her third Games in a row. She has moved into a new region this year and with this comes new challenges and new rivals. Despite walking into a new arena in Dallas this weekend, Margaux still believes that her greatest adversary will be herself.
Margaux is no stranger to competition. When she was young, Margaux was highly competitive in Taekwondo martial arts, and in high school was a standout golfer and volleyball player. She claims her toughest physical challenge came while she was in college. While she was attending college in Hawaii, Margaux joined the Healani Canoe Club, where she competed in the Molokai Hoe — a 41-mile race from Molokai to Oahu across the Ka’iwi Channel. This race was the hardest she had ever pushed herself physically, and from then on, you could say she was hooked.
Several years later some of Margaux’s friends encouraged her to try CrossFit. She was instantly engrossed in learning a new sport. It was a new way to push herself, and she quickly started competing.
