Europe’s Newest Through Hike – Via Dinarica

The ultimate 7 country through hike is ready for your next adventure. It doesn’t seem so long ago when the Balkans was torn with a threatening conflict as Yugoslavia was splintering and borders were unclear. Now as the region has settled, it has become one of the most favorable hiking destinations in the world and it’s still one of the last pretty much untouched hiking locations within Europe.

Via Dinarica is set to be one of the top hiking trails in the world rated by National Geographic in the top 10 this year. The white trail brings you through Slovenia, Croatia, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Kosovo and Albania. Throughout the 2000+ km hike you will summit all of the major peaks along the historical crossroads of Asia and Western Europe. Are you ready for the challenge?

At this time the Via Dinarica’s trails and accommodation lack the polished feel of other through trails, but isn’t that what it’s all about, getting out into nature on a true adventure. You don’t have to do it in one go, the trail is set up so you can turn up for a few days at a time and complete sections, allowing you to complete the full trail over a longer period of time. Or if you’re up for it why not take on the adventure and do it in one go. If you’re thinking about this be sure to plan ahead to have 4 months to not only complete the trail but to enjoy the journey.

Set along the trail are activity centres offering adrenaline junkies the opportunity to take part in anything from white water rafting, bungee jumping all the way to a guided walking tour.

Be safe on the trail and ensure you have all the safety equipment and your LifeProof protected mobile phone for emergency calls and tracking your gps route. You can download the full route right here and track your journey on your phone.
