A Spanish Clean Sweep @ NIGHT of the JUMPs Shenzhen

On Sunday the LifeProof Sponsored Freestyle MX Weekend came to an end in the economic metropolis of Shenzhen, China. As forty World Championship points were awarded over the two nights of competition and all of them went to the reigning World Champion Maikel Melero. After another almost perfect year Maikel has been crowned 3 time FIM Freestyle Motocross World Champion.

Melero only required a safe run to make it to the final, fortunately Melero doesn’t like to sit back and watch the other riders lay down a better run. Maikel pushed his limits and truly proved why he is a World Champion by taking pole position in the qualification round with a huge run featuring the Stripper Flip, Surfer Tsunami, Lazy boy Flip, Shaolin Flip and the Cali Roll.

The biggest shake up of the weekend was from Marc Pinyol who cruised through to the final by risking it all, bringing all of his biggest tricks including Surfer Tsunami Flip, Egg Roll and two body varials, and his signature Inside Roll. This incredible run may be enough to secure a spot in the NIGHT of the JUMPs 2017 season.

Petr Pilat was a show favourite this weekend with his unique back flip combinations. Bringing his A-Game Petr was able to put himself in the drivers seat to take the Bronze Medal overall for the World Championship. The only rider biting at his heels is Remi Bizouard who could take the medal from Petr in the season finale in Gdansk.

Taking the LifeProof Best whip contest by storm the Australian rider Pat Bowden, went up against Marc Pinyol and claimed the victory with his favourite trick.

“I am super pumped about my win at the LifeProof Best Whip contest in China. The whip is one of my favorite tricks. So I always push it to the max.”

The finale of the LifeProof sponsored NIGHT of the JUMPs 2016 series will return to Gdansk, Poland on the 19th November. Even though the World Champion has been crowned the other places are still up for grabs.
