Navratil & Richard Take Mostar | Red Bull Cliff Diving

Ahead of this weekend’s Red Bull Cliff Diving action in Japan, we take a look back to Mostar’s iconic Stari Bridge, which was the location for 2015’s most thrilling event, as Mexico’s Jonathan Paredes secured his first-ever win in 2015.

On September 24th a breath-taking afternoon of cliff diving climaxed with Michal Navratil and Lysanne Richard securing their second wins of the season. On a roll after his first ever win in Wales, Navratil showed another commanding display of diving from 27.5m, powering past reigning champion Gary Hunt (UK) with his final dive of the day. In his farewell appearance before shoulder surgery, USA’s David Colturi secured the perfect send off, taking his first podium finish of the season in 3rd place.

In the women’s competition, Montrealer Richard bounded forward from 5th to 1st in the final round with an awesome dive (the day’s highest-score) from 21.5m that just edged out Cesilie Carlton of the USA.  In 3rd place, Australian wildcard Rhiannan Iffland maintained her fine form with another strong podium finish in front of a roaring 20,000-strong crowd along the historic Neretva River.

With seven stops done and two more to go, it’s five-time champion Hunt who leads the men’s Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series standings just ahead of Team LifeProof’s Jonathan Paredes (MEX). Mostar winner Navratil switched positions with Andy Jones, who’s followed by fellow American Steven LoBue in 5th.
