ÖTILLÖ SWIMRUN UTÖ | Setting Records
Known as the toughest one day endurance race the world has to offer, the first leg of the LifeProof sponsored 2016 ÖTILLÖ Swimrun World Championships took place last weekend in UTO, Sweden. Bringing together 297 teams from 18 nations, made up of special forces, IronMan champions and seasoned athletes, charging together for an epic day of endurance racing that pushed these seasoned athletes to their very limits.
The weekend brought about smiles, tears of joy, agony and joy as teams of two took off from the start-line with the sheer drive to compete for a place in the ÖTILLÖ final this September. As only the Top 3 finishing teams make it through to the final, the competition was intense. The winners from last year mentioned that they were aiming for the victory again but were worried as the standard of athlete was much higher this year.
Each athlete displayed their raw passion for endurance as they vied for victory. Race Director Michael Lemmel was surprised by the level of competition this year mentioning that athlete times were much faster than 2015. The Top 3 podium winners in all classes were in the Top 10 finishes ever in the history of ÖTILLÖ. What an inspiration these athletes are, their performance has set the bar high for the season ahead.
Congratulations to everyone involved, check out all the results here!
